Call for Summer Course Participation – the Summer Course 2018 on Department of Animal Production and Technology (DAPT), Faculty of Animal Science, Bogor Agricultural University

We are pleased to invite you to join the Summer Course 2018 on DAPT: Challenge and Opportunity toward The Efficiency and Sustainable Tropical Animal Production in Global Competition taking place from 7-18 August 2018. This Summer Course is co-organised by Bogor Agricultural University Department Animal Production and Technology, Faculty of Animal Science, Department of Forest Resources and Ecoutourism, Faculty of Forestry and Research Center Bioresources and Biotechnology.
Course Description
The main aspect of the course offered including Tropical Animal Genetics Resources, Heritage Poultry Breeds and Production, Sustainable Livestock Production, Traditional Animal Product Processing and Supply Chain of Livestock and Animal Products. Supplemantary to the main courses and practical classes, which take place at Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) Campus, you will be enriched and expanded your knowledge to experience some of the animal production practices and traditional culture based on local wisdom during ecxursion program. The course content comprasing approximately 100 hours equal to 2 credit points with detail description of 14 hours lecture: hours, : 42 hours field study, 28 hours self study and 4 hours allocated for final assesment.

| Learning outcomes | After attending the summer course program: 1) Student understood, capable to identify and describe the existing Tropical Animal Genetics Resources, Heritage Poultry Breeds and Production, Sustainable Livestock Production, Traditional Animal Product Processing and Supply Chain of Livestock and Animal Products.; 2). Gained lots of experiences of traditional animal product processing and technology; 3) Experiencesd traditionally local culture, variety of food and visiting countriside of Indonesia |
| Credit Earning system | The program is assessed and will be given a mark and registered to Directorate of Educational Administration and Admission Management IPB |
Method and Output
The course will be consisted of lecture in class, field study and excursion. Lecture in class will be delivered in english using interactive learning approach through group discussion, case study and simulation. All the curriculum modules will be provided for the students in the begining of class. The courses will be conducted in DAPT by competence lecturers from DAPT and several guest lecturer from NCHU (Taiwan) and UPM (Malaysia) in their respective field of interest. Methods of learning used are active learning and student centered learning. This summer course will produce online module that will be attached in formal website of DAPT (https://ipb.ac.id/faculty/index/faculty-of-animal-cience/department-of-animal-production-and-technology)
Time and Place
The Summer Course program will be conducted during intersemester ( 7-18 August 2018) taking place mainly in Bogor Agricultural University Campus and excursion program to several objects and destination such as Bogor Botanical Garden heritage and South Sulawesi (Optional).
Course Schedule
The course will be organized as a 12 days summer course (5 August – 18 August 2018). The course will be filled with lectures, practical class, excursion and field studies.
