The Summer Course 2021 on Department of Animal Production and Technology (DAPT)

Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to invite you to join the Summer Course 2021 on DAPT: New Normal Challenges and Opportunities: Global Interconnectivity for Animal Productiontaking place from 12 – 23 July 2021. This Summer Course is co-organised by Department Animal Production and Technology, Faculty of Animal  Science, IPB University.

Course Description

The main aspect of the course offered including Tropical Animal Genetics Resources, Heritage Poultry Breeds and Production, Sustainable Livestock Production, Traditional Animal Product Processing and Supply Chain of Livestock and Animal Products. Supplemantary to the main courses and practical classes, which take place at Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) Campus, you will be enriched and expanded your knowledge to experience some of the animal production practices and traditional culture based on local wisdom during ecxursion program. The course content comprasing approximately 100 hours equal to 2 credit points with detail description of 14 hours lecture: hours, : 42 hours  field study, 28 hours self study  and 4 hours allocated for final assesment.

Supplemantary to the main courses and practical classes, which take place at Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) Campus, you will be enriched and expanded your knowledge to experience some of the animal production practices and traditional culture based on local wisdom during ecxursion program. The course content comprasing approximately 100 hours equal to 2 credit points with detail description of 14 hours lecture: hours, : 42 hours  field study, 28 hours self study  and 4 hours allocated for final assesment.

Learning Outcome

Title New Normal Challenges and Opportunities: Global Interconnectivity for Animal Production
Credits 2 (1-1)  : 1hours lecture, 3 hours practic/field study  (for 14 weeks)
Total hours
lecture : 1 x 14 = 14 hours
practic /field study  : 3 x 14 = 42 hours
Self study  = 3 x 14 = 42 hours
Assessment = 2 x 2  = 4 hours
Total = 102 hours for 12 days (8.5 hours/day include self study)
Learning outcomes After attending  the summer course program: 1)  to develop international reputation of IPB, include Department of Animal Production and Technology (DAPT) Faculty of Animal Science (FAS); 2) to increase international academic collaboration between DAPT and many universities by a) exchange student program, inbound and outbound students; b) exchange lecturers; 3) to increase international research collaboration between DAPT and many universities; 4) to implement interdisciplinary science and mutual teamwork in IPB; 5) To develop sustainable summer course program in DAPT

Schedule

Method and Output

The course will be consisted of lecture in class, field study and excursion. Lecture in class will be delivered in english using interactive learning approach through group discussion, case study and simulation. All the curriculum modules will be provided for the students in the begining of class. The courses will be conducted in DAPT by competence lecturers from DAPT and several guest lecturer from Osaka Univerity (Japan) and  NCHU  in their respective field of interest. Methods of learning used are active learning and student centered learning. This summer course will produce online module that will be attached in formal website.

Time and Place

The Summer Course program will be conducted during intersemester 12 – 23 July 2021 using online system.
